Hello!
I’m Sylvia Prince, the owner and creator of the ‘Sylvia Prince’ brand. Let me tell you a little bit about why I started out in this business...

I have two children - Ella and Reuben. When they were little, I saw very few cards that I felt reflected them. Black and brown children were rarely depicted; my daughter Ella was never really keen on being a princess, and my son Reuben wasn’t particularly interested in football. I often found myself resorting to buying cards that featured illustrated animals or cartoon characters they liked, to avoid buying cards portraying children who did not look like them or represent their interests.

So, I decided to do something about it.

Drawing on my background in Graphic Design, being able to illustrate and inspired by my children and their friends, I decided to create the kinds of cards I wanted to see.

My aim is for our children to see themselves celebrated, just as they are.

Since launching in 2021, I currently have 20 child characters in 10 different shades of Black and brown, including 6 children living with vitiligo and 2 children living with albinism, on cards, notebooks, bookmarks, posters, gift wrap, tote bags, t-shirts and mugs. 2022 saw me branch out into the more ‘mature’ market with 10 adult characters, and there is further expansion planned, so watch this space!
