The GCA and the Environment

Towards an ever more sustainable future

The GCA has been actively working on environmental issues since 2008.

In 2008 we held our first Green GCA AGM, launched our original Green Resources and our first model Green Card Policy to encourage and support our members in their efforts to be environmentally friendly publishers.

In 2011 we collaborated with FSC on guidance for our members, producing the GCA/FSC Factsheet. All new members receive this in their joining pack and there is a link to this from our Green Resources page.

In 2016 we updated and revamped our Green Resources section, which is openly available to members and non-members alike.

In conjunction with this we produced and circulated our GCA Paper Sourcing Guidance with its model Paper Sourcing Policies and a call to action for members to display their policies on their websites.

All our paper merchant and envelope supplier members are FSC certified. We actively encourage our members to use FSC or PEFC certified printers and source FSC or PEFC boards and envelopes, and/or become certified themselves.
