ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a rare opportunity to join our Senior Management team at Ohh Deer and you will lead our Operations department which consists of Purchasing, Planning, Warehousing and Fulfilment as well as health and safety and building management.

You will be responsible for the operations of the company and the role is responsible for making sure that our orders seamlessly flow through the company on time, within budget while meeting our customer expectations. You must be motivated to find efficiencies and save the company money.

The role is varied and will be involved in several areas of the company and requires you to work with different stakeholders across the business and externally.

The role sits within our Senior Management team (currently made up of our two company directors, Commercial Manager, Product and Design Manager and Business Analyst) where we work closely as a team on future company strategy and processes.

 

ABOUT YOU

You must have experience of working within an operational based role and must be able to deliver an operations strategy that meets the needs of the business now and within the future.

You need to be passionate about improvement, including processes and performance. Your Communication skills must be second to none as you will need to make sure that everything works perfectly across the business. 

You must be motivated and dedicated to help drive the business into the future.

ABOUT US

Founded by Jamie Mitchell and Mark Callaby in 2011, Ohh Deer is an independent, fast-growing start-up company selling greeting cards, stationery and gifts.  

Greeting Cards remain our main product but over the years we have diversified our offering and now make and sell other stationery and gift items. 

We have become firmly established within our industry selling to retailers across the world (including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Barnes and Noble and Waterstones), direct to customers online and via our subscription boxes including Papergang, Artful and Barry’s Cactus Club.

We’re passionate about what we do and aim to be the leaders in our craft. We source the best artists, suppliers and staff to help us meet these expectations.

We continue to be ambitious and want to grow the business further which this role will play an important part in supporting.

Our offices are based on the top two floors of The Old Art College in Loughborough Town Centre, the office has some of the best views of the local area!

  • Warehouse and Fulfilment Manager 

  • Assistant to the Managers

 

Job Purpose:

Lead and strategise the operations of the company, ensuring they run efficiently, smoothly and within budget.  Strategically analyse, manage and review company operations in order to identify and implement efficiencies and cost-saving benefits. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement an operations strategy for the company that ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the company, manages future growth and generates the best return on investment.

  • Support the Senior Management Team, including Company Directors, on creating and delivering company strategy and policy.

  • Lead the operations team, setting clear expectations and key-performance indicators and ensuring projects and work are completed accurately and on-time.

  • Build strong relationships and provide excellent communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the company operates at peak performance and within company expectations.

  • Working with the Purchasing and Planning team, deliver a clear procurement, production and order management strategy where inventory is ordered accurately, on-time and within budget as well as meeting customer demand.

  • Working with the Warehouse and Fulfilment team, deliver a fulfilment strategy that makes sure that the warehouse performs efficiently and safely and that orders are delivered correctly and to customer/company expectations.

  • Identify and address company-wide problems that may impact the smooth operation of the company and seek out opportunities for the future success of the business.

  • Control Human Resources, including assisting with company-wide recruitment and training when required. 

  • Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations where appropriate.

  • Manage company-wide Health and Safety policies and practises and manage Company Buildings including resources and Security.

  • To regularly review set KPI’s, prepare regular activity reports and metrics and report directly to the Line Manager.

  • To undertake ad hoc projects as required in order to meet the needs of the business.

  • To contribute to process and systems development, through making suggestions and recommendations to the directors, in order to assist in the growth and success of the Company.

  • To assist colleagues and to support the Company generally, through undertaking additional duties and tasks from time to time as and when required.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

  • Business Management qualification or hands on experience

  • Strong knowledge of e-commerce operations and the challenges it provides

  • Growth management

  • Experience of cost saving processes

  • Experience of cross-departmental working

  • Experience of working within budget

  • GCSE English or equivalent at Grade C or higher with an excellent grasp of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.

  • Experience of procurement and warehouse operations.

  • Knowledge of logistics including imports and exports.

  • Knowledge and experience of using Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office, in particular excel.

  • Experience of working in a small business

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a small business

  • Experience of Warehouse operating software.

  • Experience of Order Management software and website operating systems, in particular Shopify.
