For years I designed cards to give to friends and family. They laughed ... but that's what friends and family do. But then some of these people started asking me to design cards that they could give to their friends and family. So I started designing more cards and the ones that I liked I put up for sale on Etsy. Then suddenly one morning I woke up and found that I had started a card publishing business.
