Danielle McCarthy

Role:
Marketing and Events Co-ordinatorCompany:
GCA
Before joining the Greeting Card Association, Danielle spent nine years working for greeting card publisher Stripey Cats, having previously worked in legal property. Her experience on both the publisher and association sides of the industry gives her a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing GCA members.
At the GCA, Danielle leads on marketing, communications and member engagement, as well as organising and hosting the GCA’s events programme. This includes the annual GCA Conference & AGM, networking events, webinars and the popular Dragons Speed Dating, helping bring members together to learn, collaborate and grow their businesses.
A big part of her role involves celebrating members’ achievements, sharing industry news and championing the value of greeting cards and the incredible industry.
“What I love most about the industry is its unique sense of community. I enjoy working with the passionate and supportive people who make up the greeting card world and feel so lucky to be part of an industry built around human connection”
“The best thing about the greeting card industry is the people. I’ve never worked in a sector that’s so welcoming, supportive and willing to help one another. There really is a sense of community, and I feel very fortunate to play a small part in it.”
Fun fact: Long before joining the GCA or working for Stripey Cats, Danielle wrote her A-Level English Language coursework on the history and language of Valentine’s Day cards, without realising that one day she would build a career in the greeting card industry!
