The GCA Council is pleased to announce that Ashton Duckitt, Strategic Account Director – High Street at UK Greetings, has joined the Council following the recent resignation of Darren Cave, UK Greetings’ Commercial Director and past GCA President.
Darren served on the Council for six years, making a significant contribution to the industry. The Council agreed it was important for UK Greetings to remain represented, and Ashton’s appointment ensures continuity and strong collaboration moving forward.
Farewell and Appreciation for Darren Cave
At our December meeting, the Council expressed their appreciation for Darren’s contributions over the years. While we are sad to see him go, we fully understand his reasons for stepping down. We are delighted to welcome Ashton Duckitt as Darren’s replacement.
I would like to thank Darren Cave for the commitment and time he has given to the GCA Council, particularly his work on protecting card sending and promoting the importance of cards through our marketing initiatives. I personally appreciate his support and wise counsel during his time as President.

The GCA is in an incredibly strong position, with outstanding leadership from Amanda, Karen, Mark, and the team; and I’m confident this will continue in the future.
Looking Ahead: Future Changes
Brett Smith, Managing Director of Emotional Rescue, will step down from the Council in 2026 as he moves away from the business. During his time on the Council, Brett played a key role on the Royal Mail Sub‑committee and led the GCA’s work with Temu on IP infringement, resulting in the creation of the infringement takedown guide.
To maintain expertise in these areas, the Council has invited Pip Heywood, MD of Thortful, to join in 2026. Pip has already contributed significantly, most recently leading the GCA Council’s submission to Ofcom’s Call for Action.
