#Cardmitment Shopping Bags: A Simple Idea That Packs a Punch!

The Greeting Card Association’s #Cardmitment campaign is a national movement encouraging everyone to commit to sending more greeting cards — and to celebrate the emotional power of handwritten messages.

As part of this mission, two inspiring independent retailers — Sally Matson of Red Card and Little Red, Petworth and Kaye Thurgood of Sincerely Yours, Shenfield and Hornchurch — have launched a fantastic new initiative: #Cardmitment paper shopping bags designed to take the campaign message directly to consumers.

The Story Behind the Bags

The idea was sparked by Sally, who wanted to find a simple, visible way to spread the joy of card-sending beyond the counter. Working with Kaye and supported by the GCA, they developed a practical and powerful solution, branded paper shopping bags that retailers can use in-store to reinforce the message that cards matter.

Bags of Personality with a Message to Match

The bags feature a bold and joyful design created by GCA Member Rebecca from Raspberry Blossom. The artwork capturing the heart of the campaign — that sending and receiving cards creates meaningful connections and boosts wellbeing.

How to Get Your #Cardmitment Bags

Retailers of any size can now order the bags at the incredibly reasonable price of £20 per 1000 from the following publishers:

Retailers without an account with these publishers can still order the bags via Faire, through GBCC and Penny Kennedy (PK) Faire sites plus from Ling/ PK and GBCC reps.

Kaye shared her excitement about the project:

  • I am very grateful to UKG for helping me get this project off the ground and to the publishers for supporting the distribution. Thank you to Amanda Fergusson for embracing the initiative and working with me to coordinate it.

It has been an amazing team effort. I really hope retailers get behind this and use the bags to reinforce the joy of sending cards through all seasons. I used the bags for the first time on a very busy Saturday — it was so satisfying to see the smiles on customers’ faces. We have sent the message loud and clear across our high street and beyond. Such a simple concept that packs a punch
