In a world where children are growing up glued to screens, the Greeting Card Association is proud to launch Card Club. A brand new initiative designed to put pen and paper back into the hands of children aged 4 – 11 years and encourage card sending.

Introducing Card Club
Watch Rebecca Green’s presentation from the GCA Conference & AGM, where she introduces Card Club and shares the inspiration behind this exciting new initiative.
Why Card Club?
We know that sending and receiving a card is one of life’s simplest joys. Yet so many children have their ‘connection’ with friends and family through their phones. Research shows that children aged 4 – 11 spend up to four hours a day on screens. We believe that technology has its place, but heavy screen use has been linked to poorer sleep, rising anxiety and reduced attention spans.
Reconnecting Through Cards
Card Club is to encourage children to discover the joy of sending and receiving cards to help build real and meaningful connections.
What’s in the Card Club ToolKit?
We have created this initiative in collaboration with a qualified teacher, who has trialled it in their classroom and had fantastic results.

The Card Club includes:
The kit has been designed to make it simple for schools and clubs to run the activity, with only an A4 printer and pens required. We have also created colour me in sheets for those schools and clubs who don’t have access to a coloured printer. It’s a fun, creative and educational activity that really engages children.
New Resource for Teachers
We’ve created a set of Card Club Slides for Teachers—a fun, interactive classroom resource that introduces children to greeting cards and guides them through designing and sending their own. The slides are perfect for use in schools and youth groups, helping children explore creativity, empathy, and connection through card-sending.
More Than Just a Card
The Card Club isn’t just about creating a pretty card but it is equipping young children with skills that will serve them in their life growing up. From literacy, encouraging children to be creative, practicing handwriting skills and demonstrating empathy by creating something that is thoughtful which develops emotional intelligence. And of course, it is also about connection, receiving a handwritten card brings a smile in a way that no emoji ever could!
How to Get Involved
To make the Card Club accessible, we have also created a downloadable kit with an introductory letter for contacting schools and clubs and also a presentation explaining what Card Club is and how it works. This means it is super easy for GCA members to reach out to their local schools and clubs and help spread the joy of card sending.

Join the Movement
Our vision is simple: A wave of card sending from the next generation. We want children to grow up with cards in their hands, not just phones.
Download the Card Club Toolkit below and introduce it to your local schools and clubs for children aged 4 – 11. Let’s get children writing, drawing and connecting one card at a time.
Rebecca Green recently took Card Club to a school read all about how the day went here.
