As a proud member of the Independent Retail Confederation – IRC, the Greeting Card Association (GCA) is delighted to support the ShopKind campaign—an initiative that unites the retail sector to tackle violence and abuse against shopworkers.

What is ShopKind?

Backed by the Home Office and led by the National Business Crime Centre, ShopKind encourages positive behaviour in shops and highlights the essential role of shopworkers in our communities.

Why It Matters?

Our industry is built on thoughtfulness. Every card sent is a gesture of care—and we believe that same spirit should extend to the people behind the counter. Retail workers are the unsung heroes of our high streets. They help us celebrate life’s moments—big and small—by making sure we can find the perfect card, gift, or keepsake. Yet, far too many face abuse and aggression simply for doing their jobs. They deserve to feel safe, valued, and appreciated.

The ShopKind campaign, backed by the Home Office and supported by major retailers and independent businesses alike, aims to:

  • Encourage kindness and respect in retail spaces
  • Acknowledge the vital role of shopworkers in our communities
  • Raise awareness of the impact of abuse and violence in retail

How You Can Get Involved

  •  Display ShopKind posters in your store
  • Share ShopKind messages on social media
  • Encourage kindness in every customer interaction
